What Do We Mean by Use The News?

Questioning all media messages, but at the same time knowing where to find information available through the media and using it to make informed decisions . . .
That is what Use The News is all about.

Personal Note from Betty:
Growing up in Mississippi during the 50s and 60s, news about ‘gay people’ was not so easy to find.  Reports of annual Gay Pride Parades in New York and San Francisco might be the only stories one would hear about in an entire year. Twenty-five years ago, I was inspired by the idea of ‘being in control of one’s own life’ by using the news media to obtain information about ‘other ways of being in the world.’ That inspiration still fuels my work every day. - Betty
