Hurricane Hunters
from the National Hurricane Center use the C-130 Hercules, a very
sturdy turboprop place. It's not beefed up in any way, only the
special weather equipment makes the WC-130 different from the cargo
version. The crew has six members: two pilots, a navigator, flight
engineeer and two weather specialists. There are ten aircraft to cover
up to five storm missions per day, anywhere from the mid-Atlantic to
Hawaii. http://www.hurricanehunters.com/photo.htm. (National Weather Service Photos) (Added 9/24/05 - Date of Hurricanne Rita)
