Spring Is Here! Better Late Than Never
By DJ Gray
Hello, fellow music lovers! Here is another edition of “The Music Pilot.”
It has been a few minutes since my last article. I promise I will try
to keep them coming once a month and inform you with as much new music
I can get a hold of .
I think I can say it “Spring Is Here!” . . . better late then
never. We are off to a great start. I’m looking forward to a
fun-filled event calendar ( www.djgray.net/events.htm ) all the way
thru our indian summer.
Check out yours truly, DJ Gray, at Nihon (www.nihon-sf.com) every
Friday for the month of May. Nihon is a swank upscale whiskey
lounge with Japanese cuisine. This is the only bar in San Francisco
where you can buy a bottle of liquor, and they will store it for you
until you finish it. Included with your purchase is access to their
private VIP room.
Read all about it on the website and give a call for reservations.
Great place to take dates, friends and business associates. Stay tuned
for special events featuring DJ Gray. Check it out at www.djgray.net
In the last year, I have been working on remixing a lot of my favorite
latest hits and supersizing a lot of classic 80s and Latin dance tunes
that take me back to my youth and make me shake my ass. As we know
music is in constant evolution, modern music in the states can be
traced back to bluegrass and folk.
Our dance music today is the direct evolution of disco, Latin rhythms
and electronic sounds of the computer age. What I see as the next
step to this music evolution is “cross-over.” Music has the power to
bring people together from every walk of life, as cultures integrate it
only makes sense that our music will also. We are starting to see that
with the creation of “Reggatone,” “Falabella,” “Latin Hip Hop” and
“Eastern/Western Indie.”
I am on the Hip House tip. I love a lot of the rhythms and lyrical
styles that Hip Hop has to offer. As a dance music dj hip-hop is at to
slow a tempo to carry audiences through the nite. Remixing hip-hop into
hip house brings audiences the best of both worlds.
In January I released my first single on a white label. Yes, ladies,
vinyl … remembers that? Of course I have it on cd also but
there’s nothing like hearing sweet beats on vinyl on a powerful sound
system.
To hear my remix called ‘Trippin’ and more to come, please visit me on
my space. www.myspace.com/rollergurl Country Music is the
next frontier. We all grew up with it … it’s in the back of your
memory, and you know some of it hits ya just right. “Save a
Horse! Ride a Cowgirl!” Stay tuned for some country music cross
over brought to you by DJ Gray.
