Gold's Gym - It All Starts Here

  Our Mission -

Betty’s List is a leading resource of information for the San Francisco Bay Area’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Betty's List offers educational, cultural and informational features using the latest Internet technologies. As such, we continue our long-standing commitment to media education and to the tradition of teaching and learning both “about” and “with” all forms of media.

The overarching goal of Betty’s List as a resource for LGBT people is to assist members of our community who wish to gain access to the information they need to be in control of their own lives.

In addition to the content on the Betty's List web site and the e-mail announcements sent to subscribers, Betty's List is actively involved in planning and conducting events of many types. Events vary in format and venue. Each and every one offers opportunities for those who participate to become actively involved in their community with peer groups; to gain valuable experience in social, business and recreational networking; and to use online "new media" technology.

We Welcome Your Support for the Work of Betty’s List -

Projects and features of Betty’s List begin and end with three words in mind: Education, Excellence and Service. Those concepts are our "alpha" and "omega."

Serving as the fiscal sponsor for selected programs developed by Betty’s List is Use The News Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization co-founded in 1998 by  Dr. Sherrye D. Garrett, Dr. Edward F. DeRoche and Dr. Betty L. Sullivan.

Examples of Betty's List educational projects include the unique “Use The News” feature located on the Betty's List homepage; the “Be Not Afraid” Resource Guide to Media & the Internet (forthcoming); and selected events conducted throughout the year. Selected sections on the website also include documentation for historical purposes.

In particular, Betty's List makes it possible for members of the LGBT community who have limited Internet skills to become more familiar with online technology and how it can be used to obtain information they need to be in control of their own lives.

Those who wish to support the work of Betty’s List are encouraged to do so by making a tax-deductible contribution. For more information, please contact Kate Laws, Use The News Foundation operations manager: Phone: 650-483-1926 or E-Mail: Kate.Laws@gmail.com.
